PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Dakshana’s 1-year coaching program to prepare for IIT and medical entrance examinations is offered to brilliant but impoverished students from government and government-aided schools in India, after Class 12 (Science), at the Dakshana Valley, Pune. The scholars spend a year at the picturesque campus stretching over 109 acres at Kadus Village in Maharashtra (approximately 60 kms away from Pune city). The campus is located in a valley, surrounded by hills, has 5 lakes, and is a zero-pollution area. The program includes free coaching by experienced faculty, free food and accommodation for one year.
Dakshana Scholars coached under the 1-year coaching program produced 100% results at the JEE Mains 2017 and 98% at JEE Advanced 2016. The first Dakshana Class of NEET 2017 produced a 100% result!
FELLOWSHIP YEAR OVERVIEW
Dakshana selects students for the coaching program, before they finish Class 12, through the Joint Dakshana Selection Test (JDST).
Joint Dakshana Selection Test (JDST)
The JDST is held between February & March every year at various school locations in each state. Students are either invited to take the test directly through their schools under an agreement with the state government or can apply directly and await an invitation. If your school would like to receive details about the invitation process, kindly ask your school principal to send an email to jdst@dakshana.org using “Students for JDST” in the subject line.
Currently, the JDST is conducted at two levels:
- JDST-JNV: For students currently in Class 12 (Science) at a Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in every district in India. Students receive invitations for the entrance test based on their performance at Class 12 internal exams. These results come directly from the JNV through the NVS Regional Office.
- JDST-GOVT. SCHOOLS: For students of all boards and all government school systems excluding the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas.
Eligibility
Any student who meets all the criteria below can apply:
- Merit Criteria: Student must have scored > 70 percent in the Mathematics and Science Class 10 state board exams or CGPA 9.0 in the Class 10 CBSE exam.
- Student MUST be enrolled in Class 12 Science for the current academic session in a state government school/government-aided school/corporation school/or a school that the government runs and manages.
Process
The 1-year coaching program is available only to students graduating from Class 12 in the year they appear for the JDST. A list inviting students for the JDST in both cases will appear on the Dakshana website approximately three weeks before the test date. If a student receives an invitation, then he/she must register at the website and fill the application form for the JDST.
