writing a paper the night before research

For the past 3 years I've written all my terms papers (I like to take history electives, don't ask why) the night before. Last year, I was stuck on a 15-page paper. It sucks.

I’ve done this many times. You fail? This thread reminds me of Konata from Lucky Star. The trick is that it may take you some time to know what words to write. essays like that usually get C's, which for me stands for "close call" hehe. Do not recommend. Even though I got good grades, it's not worth procrastinating. I need frequent breaks.

If you don't make an effort to fix this shit, don't go to school and join the workforce (if you're in college). 2000 words isn't shit. I made an A in the class, but it was the worst experience of my life because I kept getting distracted and was very mentally exhausted.

back a few years ago i would just write a little bit every night. Same here. First, collect any quotes or statistics that you can include in your paper. I know that isn't extremely tough, but I know I have a struggle to go through!

I gotta write a 5-7 word paper by Tuesday. Didn't start until 7pm the night before, let's just say I went through 3 Red Bull's that night and it was an hour before my first class when I finished writing it. I could do 1200 words in an hour or so after reading the sparknotes, smoke weed, it keeps me up and it helps me write better. Left it until 5 p.m. the night before, stayed up all night writing, still wasn't done when I had to go to work at 8 a.m.

I've been in this situation, and will be again. 2000 words is fuck all, unless you have no clue what your writing about? Kept writing all day at work, printed it out at 4:30 p.m., went to class at 5 p.m. and handed in the paper. the tragic irony is painful. All the while you can blame the shooting on a black dude who was "trying to rob you". Think about that. That really sucked. Haven't received anything lower than an A in those past 3 years.

When I was in university that was the only way I wrote essays up to 2,500 words. Think about the time you will spend reading, researching, planning and writing. I've written about 8000 in nearly five hours. I did get a B+ on the paper.
At all. I'd suggest shooting yourself in the leg, going to school/college when you recover. You can focus on writing descriptions and analyses of the separate quotes first and then tie them all together later.

I have written a twenty-page paper in two days before it was due or so, because last year I had three 20+ page papers due in the same week (and I spent too long on one so I had to cram for the other two), but never have I written an entire paper in the night before it was due.
For literature analysis essays I mark up my text, keep notes and collect themes as I read so that it's not as much of a scramble.

Very often students delay the process of research paper writing in the last week, but there are also individuals who start doing their assignment a few hours before the deadline. I would type a ton out and go back and edit it.

Last semester I was supposed to write a one page report every week for the duration of the semester and ended up writing all 14 or so the day before the final.

To answer your question, I stayed up all night to write a lot of my essays during freshman year and it sucked a lot. I never got less than 62/100. Get off Reddit and do not come back until the paper is done. In the end, it wasn't terrible, but it was totally unnecessary. That said, I tend to brainstorm and outline my essays or short stories (creative writing major, most assignments are 6-12 pages double spaced) in the days/weeks leading up to actually writing, so it's not entirely accurate to say I procrastinate up to the last minute. So many papers I could have completed days before the due date and I didn't. It's an awful habit that I've been working on improving, but this last year I was SO busy with all my other classes that I didn't have much of an option. Well, so far I see you spent over 3 hours writing 163 (yes I counted them) words of whiny, useless bullshit here. You can too, unless you're some kind of moron. Haven't done any serious work since maybe 8th grade. 1000 word speech, 3000 words total in report and research, passed both.

It's for creative writing and I'm a writer so I was acting all cool and procrastinating it but I still haven't finished the second page. gave myself one night to do 2000 page report. Sometimes all it takes to motivate your ass is to realize it will be due in 15 hours. Sometimes you have to force yourself to write those words. Counted them... as if checking MS Word's word count, right?

I started it the night before it was due (and the class was at noon, I think). I'd done the research but was having a hard time getting going on the writing. In saying that, 2000 words is a medium sized paper but is do-able the night before.

I'm not the type that can sit for hours straight doing work. I've known a lot of good, nice, amiable people who had the fatal flaw of procrastinating like that. Got an A-. I did it once.
