The PBS KIDS Writers Contest helps children build valuable literacy skills for success in school and life. 2nd – Benjamin L. – “The Ocean Who Likes the Man” This Contest consists of one round of local judging. They also got to narrate their award-winning stories in our GPB Radio studio. 2nd – Joseph Z. In addition to providing an outlet for Georgia children to explore their imagination and express their creativity, the PBS KIDS Writers Contest helps families and teachers use creative writing as a literacy building skill. Grade levels were judged separately by a panel of qualified professionals, based on originality, creative expression, storytelling technique, illustrations and overall impression. All entries are judged by a team of volunteers representing professions from the North Country Library System retired teachers and local authors. 3rd – Josh S. – “The Eagle that Needed Glasses”, Third Grade A Ballerina Story – Alexia Gomez-Leon – 1st place – K.
