i hate writing research papers reddit

I am a circuits and control PhD student, but I think the advice applies universally. http://www.robertsoncooper.com/good-daily-psychology-article/906-the-vase-broke-itself-4-ways-that-languages-shape-the-way-we-think You can see that without the jargon, I am saying~~"this white blood cell makes a protein that helps another type of white blood cell respond to a specific type of vaccine in a way that would make the vaccine effective". How would professors view my tips? Finally though, a lot of people either (a) are bad writers or (b) do not put the required time/effort in to make their papers accessible. I just started grad school this semester and already I want out. Good question. I have wished my superbitch dead on a number of occasions. I should apply for internships, jobs, etc., but I'm so emotionally exhausted I can't even bring myself to apply for anything. I'm almost about to start my third year, my supervisor is a superbitch and my colleagues are exactly as most of you are describing backstabbing sleazy with no actual ambition. It’s mandatory in scientific papers since referring to the experimenters is forbidden. Anyone know when I might find something I actually enjoy doing? But I hate it, and I've had this feeling before so I know what it feels like.

Here Are Some Tips, Misconceptions and Missed Opportunities - Leaving Academia, What it might mean when you begin to "put yourself in charge". IT'S FUCKING NOISE, ASSHOLE!! Maybe there is something really new and interesting every 5 years, but the rest of the time people copy each other, slightly varying some details, to publish more crap. I think I suffer from a bad choice of research field - I switch from doing the so-called "real-world" research based on patient populations to a "pure scientific" and "theory-driven" research area. In fact, it will stay there, and you will waste precious time having a wrong attitude, one that blocks your productivity.
Hi, I'm sorry you're feeling stressed out! The sort of writing you quoted from Dr. Lyman would never find its way into science writing of any sort. So I don't at all regret doing my masters - both for the skills I got and for the extra credential. So my advice to you would be to try to stick it out and do the masters', but to not feel pressured to either (1) write the absolute perfect masters' thesis or (2) to go beyond that if you're not interested. But either way, keep in mind - your happiness matters.

Also, I feel like this is not where my strengths lie.

It is UTTERLY POINTLESS.

About #4: sometimes we come to conclusions that actually *are* partial or uncertain. It is so pointless that I just cannot comprehend the fact that I do it.Is not everything in life in some existentialist sense QUEST FOR MEANING. But now school is back up again and I have a meeting with my adviser/boss in about 8 hours.

The quality of research has nothing to do with that. https://psych.stanford.edu/~lera/papers/who-dunnit.pdf

Really. But I had a mentality shift when I changed my perspective on papers from something that seemed like tedious and overwhelming extra work to the culmination of my research that will be received by far broader audiences than my thesis. Shibboleths can be useful by communities as a way of signally in-group and out-group (and this is common in expert communities of all sorts, as a way of figuring out who is worth talking to and who isn't; it is a time-saving device at best, a form of social exclusion at worse), whereas obfuscation is something of a subversion of the point of academic research (it seeks to limit analysis, not improve it — the function of doing so is presumably making the writer of such text look more informed than they really are, or preventing critique of their work). the craziest thing is the university is aware of the situation, but warn us if we go to file a complaint "are you ready for the repercussions?" And my fiance left his job, his friends and his family to come with me so add that in there.

Scientists have different rhetorical expectations than humanists do, for better and worse.

Can you identify any themes (or other patterns) that run through the work?
