I was recently connected to the CEO of QuestBridge (www.questbridge.org). Questbridge. They provide college scholarships to high-achieving low-income
students in the US. It has partnerships
with several elite US universities (e.g. Stanford) to provide full four-year scholarships to these low-income
students.
They seem to have an exceptional team and a crisp focus. Some of these schools and scholarships are also open to awarding them to low-
income foreign students.
We agreed that we'd have some promising Dakshana Scholars who don't make it to IIT apply to US universities through
Questbridge. Dakshana would help these kids prepare for and take the SAT, TOEFL and the subect SATs (like SAT Physics, SAT chemistry etc.)
Dakshana
would also endeavor to work with banks or our own endowment to cover any fundings gaps like airfare etc.
We hope to do a few pilot applications with
Questbridge in 2008 and beyond.
