Subject: Super 30 IIT-JEE Results for 2007

The Super 30 program in Bihar (www.super30.org) has served as an inspiration for The Dakshana Foundation's core model. For 2007, they again prepped 30 impoverished but gifted kids for 8 months to take the IIT-JEE. The results are out and the Super 30 did it gain. This year 28 of the 30 got in.

Apparently, some coaching institutes took credit for 3 of the Super 30 being trained by them. This has upset the founders and they are suggesting that they are abandoning the program:

I had the good fortune of visiting the Ramanujan School of Mathematics (and the Super 30 kids) in Bihar in Maarch, 2007. It was just a few days before the IIT-JEE test. I spent the day with Anand Kumar and the kids. It was a wonderful experience. Many of the pictures you see on the Dakshana website are from that visit.

I was impressed with the Super 30 before I visited, but was blown away after my visit. Anand Kumar is doing god's work. He's an incredibly talented mathematician, a gifted teacher and above all a passionate humanitarian. I do hope the Super 30 program continues.

I have expressed to Anand Kumar that Dakshana would be honored to help him in his mission (or expanding it). We have developed a wonderful relationship. I was flattered when he expressed that he thought of me as an elder brother.
