    Colonel Virender Kumar Haryal comes to Dakshana with a rich experience of 39 years in the Indian Army. He has performed various roles, technical and non-technical, during his service - right from strategic, logistic and operational planning to disaster management and security & administration.     He was a liaison officer between the Indian Military Training Team and the Royal Bhutanese Army from March to December 2000.

    Colonel has a deep and diverse experience in admin and management which includes appraisal and promotions, canteen stores dept. management, budgeting at NCC, discipline and vigilance, etc.

    He has a unique flair of developing and implementing innovative practices for organisational improvement. He has a competent and dynamic nature with excellent communication and organisational skills.

  • Colonel Ram K. Sharma

    close Chief Executive Officer

    Colonel Ram K. Sharma joined the National Defence Academy in December 1957, after high school from Colvin Taluqdars’ College, Lucknow. After four years of training, including one year at IMA, Dehradun, he was commissioned in the Regiment of Artillery. He took early retirement in 1993, after having front-line experience in three wars. [READ MORE]

    He started his own business after hanging up the uniform. After a successful stint of nearly six years, due to a personal tragedy, he decided to close the business. He has since been trying to contribute towards the education of bright but needy students. Dakshana was the natural follow-through after meeting Mohnish Pabrai in April 2009.

  • Commander Arun Kumar Mishra

    Commander Arun Kumar Mishra is an alumnus of National Defence Academy and IIT Kharagpur. He joined Indian Navy in 1994, got his B. Tech degree from Naval College of Engineering and later went on to graduate with an M.Tech from IIT Kharagpur. He was also selected for TMC and holds PGDMS from Jamnalal Bajaj University.     Cdr. Mishra has a distinguished Naval service of twenty-two years. During his Naval career, he has served as instructor at the Naval College of Engineering, Production Manager at Naval Dockyard, Marine Engineer Officer of frontline warships, and Staff Engineer Officer at Naval Headquarter. Commander Mishra has been awarded with commendation from Chief of Naval staff and Commander-in- Chief (Eastern Command).

  • Sharmila Pai

    Sharmila Pai joined Dakshana in January 2010 after spending 20+ years in the corporate world. She brought with her a wealth of experience and a very compassionate nature. She has spent the past seven years at Dakshana and has handled the Dakshana 2-year coaching program and DAAN (Dakshana Alumni Network) with maximum efficiency. [READ MORE]

    Sharmila’s previous employment was as Head–Operations, Sara Beattie Group, India, in the education arm. Prior to that, she was editor of the Super Junior Times, India’s only exclusive monthly newspaper for children and spent 15 years in the field of advertising, communications, and publishing.

    Pai enjoys herself among scholars and alumni alike and is fully committed to her work at Dakshana. Besides work, she enjoys travelling, reading and music. Sharmila believes that being humane is the greatest virtue that can dispel any darkness in the world.
